Android is a mobile operating system created by Open Handset Alliance and commercially sponsored by Google by in September 23, 2008. Products that utilizes the Android operating system include but are not limited to smartphones, tablets, handhelds, Android TVs, Android TV boxes, and more.

As with other gaming mobile platforms of the 2000s, the Guitar Hero Mobile series appeared on Android's Android Market (later known as Google Play Store but the games were delisted), featuring most of the games that other mobile platforms like BREW and J2ME featured. As with these platforms, the Android version have the same base songs that last for two minutes with the exception of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Mobile featuring full-length tracks. Graphically, some games like Guitar Hero 5 Mobile and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Mobile appear superior to these other gaming platforms and can scale into high-definition depending on device and device's settings.

Despite the positive reception and popularity the Android operating system has received over the years, it has never received a port of iOS's Guitar Hero mobile video game or Guitar Hero Live.

It is also to note that Guitar Hero Mobile series on Android were made for older Android operating systems like Android 1.0 and Android 2.0. Newer Android operating systems would have compatibility or graphical issues but it is possible to play certain games on certain newer devices (like Guitar Hero 5 Mobile on Samsung Galaxy S series) while others would crash on launch.
