Cooperative gameplay in Guitar Hero II.
Cooperative is a multiplayer game type in Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. As the name suggests, the game type is played by two people, as opposed to one. In later games, cooperative is replaced by full band play.

Cooperative can be played in Quickplay or Career in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. In cooperative gameplay, the two players are working together, so the Star Power Meter, Rock Meter, Note Streak, and Points Meter are shared. For Star Power to be activated, both players have to activate it within the same time period. While playing a song, the two guitarists are either playing Guitar and Bass, or Lead and Rhythm, depending on the song.
Co-op Career[]

Exclusive to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is Co-op Career which is a Career mode version of the Cooperative game mode, featuring an arranged setlist of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock songs with no Guitar Battles but has new encore songs at the end of each tier in six tiers.
