- DJ Hero 3D (cancelled 2011)
Gameplay[]
The DJ Hero series on console utilizes a new instrument called the DJ Hero Wireless Turntable Controller, which has a rotatable phonograph record with three colored buttons (green, red, and blue), as well as a switch called a "crossfader", a dial for distorting audio effects (similar to whammy), and a side button to activate Euphoria, which is similar to Star Power after acquiring enough Euphoria [Star Power] energy by completing Euphoria phrases.
The DJ gameplay's highway consists of three colored G

lanes rotated counterclockwise. As icons hit the bottom target line, player presses the corresponding colored button to hit those icons. If the icon has an arrow pointing up or down, the player holds the button down and quickly pushes or pulls the phonograph in that direction. Doing this repeatedly is referred to as "scratching". The crossfader is used to switch lanes when a colored stream switches to a side lane and is center by default. When the green stream shifts left, flip the crossfader switch to the left on the horizontal line. When a stream shifts back to normal position, flip the crossfader back to the center. When the blue stream shifts right, flip the crossfader to the right on horizontal line.
The first DJ Hero game also has Guitar support for all difficulties (Beginner, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert) for certain songs featuring guitar(s), using gameplay mechanics and graphics from Guitar Hero 5. Vocals are also supported in the series. However, Bass and Drums are not supported.
DJ Hero Mobile, developed by Glu Mobile that also developed Guitar Hero 5 Mobile and soon Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock Mobile, uses keypad controls or touchscreen controls depending on mobile port, playing similar to the Guitar Hero Mobile series while using DJ-like gameplay, rapidly tapping on scratches and switching streams with the crossfader button on horizontal lines.

At Nintendo's E3 press conference on June 15, 2010, the Nintendo 3DS handheld console was revealed. At the conference Nintendo listed a number of publishers and franchises coming to the 3DS, one of whom was Activision with DJ Hero 3D, a new installment in the DJ Hero series and the first handheld DJ Hero title. The gameplay is similar in nature to DJ Hero, where the stylus and touchscreen are used to mimic scratching and crossfading between songs.[5] It was later cancelled due to poor sales of DJ Hero 2.
