There are nine explorable districts in Guitar Hero III: Backstage Pass. Upon starting a new game, the southwest district (District #7) where Axel/Judy's original home is located is unlocked and more can be unlocked after completing the tutorial and buying a Tour Bus for $2,000 and completing further into the tutorial. The Minimap and Districts can be accessed with the Pound ("#") button.
Accessing certain buildings[]
Some venues and record labels have stat and/or song requirements (entry requirements or "criteria") before you can access their main activity, which can be viewed by asking the doormen/receptionists. Stat requirements, except Cash, don't have a cost.
Not every building's main activity in a district can be accessed right away such as the 5-star venue "Enemy" Fest at District #7 that requires five songs to be maxed at Rehearsal level 5 and costs half of a million dollars. These top-tier venues can be accessed later in the game after unlocking and exploring other districts.
If you are trying to access better venues and recording labels:
- Fame and Cash attributes can be obtained by performing well playing gigs at venues you have access to.
- Buzz attribute can be obtained from doing interviews and Leafleting in front of any building. The Leafleting minigame, which is unlocked on Day 2 of the tutorial, requires a positive amount of Cash to enter the minigame.
- Cred and Cash attributes can be obtained at anytime by Busking behind any building. There are no requirements to Busk once you unlock Busking on Day 3 of the tutorial.
- Rehearsing songs at home and aiming for the targeted scores to increase the song's Rehearsal level (also known as Star Rating). A song has a chance to have its Rehearsal level increased by up to two levels in one rehearsal session depending on performance.
Many buildings have an opening and closing time when their main activity can be accessed and cannot be accessed respectively but you may Leaflet or Busk at any building at any time until midnight. Main activities at Publicities, Record Labels, and Shops are opened during the day, and Venues are opened during the night, and sleeping at Hotels and Homes can only be done at or past midnight and you can only Sleep at or past midnight. If a trip were to exceed to the building's main activity's closing time, you cannot access the building's main activity for the night but no time and distance will pass for attempting to. If the building is not opened yet during the day (such as Venues), you can wait the allotted time to pass to access it.
Tip: Playing Gigs at Venues have no time requirement and can be performed overnight. It is recommended to Busk and Leaflet during the day (Busk more instead of Leaflet if you are running out of cash) and play a gig at a Venue near midnight to acquire most stats in a day. Playing a gig during the day ends the day anyway.

Note: Prices listed below as "$???*" have a price value that is determined from an unknown equation that has yet to be discovered or calculated. For Hotels, while unconfirmed, their prices seem to be around 5 times the amount of Fame.

Located in the southwest district, District #7 is the first district the player has access to when starting a new game. Upon starting a new game, the player also starts of with the song "War Pigs". The second song "I Love Rock N Roll" is unlocked during the 3rd day of the tutorial in this district and will be the only two songs for a while until the next district is unlocked. Home: 93 Slum Lane
