In addition to songs, districts, and minigames unlocked during Career, there are also 20 guitars in the game as cosmetics when rehearsing or playing a gig, one that the player starts off with (Guitar #1), 6 more that can be bought from the Guitar Shop when they become available, and 13 Legendary Guitars that can be unlocked by completing certain tasks.
Other than the first guitar, the other 6 standard guitars can be bought from shops. You can also sell these guitars (except Guitar #1) to the shops too for half the buy price rounded down if odd.

Legendary guitars are more like in-game achievements that can be equipped to be seen on stage and there are 13 in total.
If equipping a Legendary guitar, the Smash feature (Left Soft Key) will be available at the start of the Fret Frenzy minigame until you start playing notes. Smashing your Legendary guitar will immediately end Fret Frenzy and give you maximum points for the Fret Frenzy session but you will lose your Legendary guitar and you'll default back to Guitar #1 after the minigame.
After breaking a Legendary guitar, you can purchase them at Shops that buy/sell Legendary guitar. They cannot be purchased from Shops until they are unlocked by completing their original task first.
