Guitar Hero World Tour contains 86 licensed tracks, all of which are master recordings from the original artists this, as well as 17 premade custom songs on disc composed or covered by Neversoft to display what the new "Music Studio" feature can do. Guitar Hero World Tour has also received a lot of downloadable songs over time, most of which are master recordings too except "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Black Betty" are covered by WaveGroup Sound (the last console songs to be covered by WaveGroup). Guitar Hero World Tour, however, does not support Guitar Hero II or Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock downloadable content with the exception of Metallica's Death Magnetic album DLC, which are enhanced on Guitar Hero World Tour and newer titles supporting downloadable content with new instrumental parts and new gameplay mechanics such as slider notes, extended sustains, and open notes for Bass.
List of songs[]
Main setlist[]
Guitar Hero World Tour contains 86 songs, all of which are master recordings—a first for the Guitar Hero series.[1] In the single player and multiplayer band (Career Mode) modes, songs are distributed into various "gigs" that contain between 3 to 6 songs each; gigs may also contain a boss battle (for the single player guitar career) and encores that are revealed once all the other songs in the gig are completed. These gigs are arranged approximately based on the difficulty of the songs in that gig for the selected instrument or band, with more difficult songs appearing in later gigs. The player or band must complete easier gigs before the more difficult gigs are available. Once a player or band has access to a song via any instrument or band Career mode, that song can be played in Quickplay mode or any of the other competitive modes in the game. The set list has been described as containing well-known songs by "an impressive collection of artists" such as Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, and Tool.[2][3]
Songs are presented in the table below with the year they were recorded (based on the in-game description), song title, and artist, and the placement of the song in each instrumental Career for single player and Band Career for a single person (usually Vocals with a steady microphone and another instrument is capable for multitaskers) or as a band (of any number of players with any combination of different instruments). 35 out of the 86 songs were exportable to both Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock for a small fee, with music licensing limiting which songs could be exported. However, as of April 1, 2014, the export is no longer available.[4][5][6]
List of songs in Guitar Hero World Tour and their Career venues for each instrument and Band play on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X, and if they are exportable to future titles on 7th generation home console.
24 songs of the main track list are unlocked from the start in Quickplay and more songs (such as Ozzy Osbourne songs, Tool songs, Sunna's Chariot venue songs, etc.) are unlocked by progressing through any instrumental or Band Careers and unlocking the venues associated with them.
|
While other versions of Guitar Hero World Tour are identical in their Career setlists for each instrument, the PlayStation 2 version of Guitar Hero World Tour rearranged songs and venues in each instrumental Career.[8] Since some venues were removed from the PlayStation 2 version (including Ted's Tiki Hut, Recording Studio, and Tesla's Coil) some venues repeat during Career into two parts with Swamp Shack, Will Heilm's Keep, and Ozzfest replacing the former venues' gigs.[9]
12 songs of the main track list are unlocked from the start in Quickplay and more songs (such as Ozzy Osbourne songs, Tool songs, Sunna's Chariot venue songs, etc.) are unlocked by progressing through any instrumental or Band Careers and unlocking the venues associated with them.

GHTunes examples[]
Being the first Guitar Hero video game featuring the ability to make custom songs with the Music Studio feature (with instrumental tones and effects provided by Line 6), Neversoft has made 17 songs on-disc in Guitar Hero World Tour as examples, some of which are song covers. However, the charting quality typically pales in comparison to the charted licensed songs.

Downloadable content[]
There were a total of 158 songs downloadable for Guitar Hero World Tour, most of which were master recordings, with the exception of downloadable tracks "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Black Betty" covered by WaveGroup Sound, which would be the last covers for the Guitar Hero series on console by WaveGroup.
While Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock downloadable content are not compatible for a Guitar Hero World Tour (with the exception of Metallica's Death Magnetic album, enhanced for World Tour and newer titles including Guitar Hero: Metallica), Guitar Hero World Tour received a lot of downloadable content. Downloadable content for Guitar Hero World Tour usually cost $5.50 (440 Microsoft Points) for a Song Pack and $2.00 (160 Microsoft Points) for a single song.
With the exception of The Jimi Hendrix Track Pack & The Jimi Hendrix Track Pack 02, every other downloadable song for Guitar Hero World Tour are compatible with Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.

Trivia[]
- Along with Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero World Tour is the only other game that has downloadable songs which are cover versions.
- Guitar Hero World Tour is the only Guitar Hero game to have downloadable content made only for that game while other downloadable content can be played on other games.
- Since Jimi Hendrix only appears in Guitar Hero World Tour, none of his songs could be imported into Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero or Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. His songs also didn't appear in any the music stores in these games.
