Kool Thing is a song written and performed by alternative rock band Sonic Youth for their album Goo (1990).

This song is relatively hard for the fourth tier. The only easy parts are the Chorus sections (the "I don't wanna" sections). It is mainly difficult because of the irregularity of the strumming, but many don't know how much strumming is required. There are ten notes in the strumming sequence, eight yellow and two blue. The way to combo this is to strum up and down four times for the string of yellows and strum up and down once for the blues (a total of five times). Knowing this is essential because this pattern pops up 20 times throughout the song.

Depending on how you like to play random single notes, the guitar solo might be easy or hard. Just watch out for the random notes and practice your fingerwork to get good at it. If you perfect this section, you can probably FC the entire song. Also, if you know the note pattern, you can also perfect it. But your fingers might be a little lazy from the single long note section, which lasts from 30 to 45 seconds.
