All Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS models have a built-in microphone that can be used to activate Star Power or blow flames out when hit with the Pyrotechnics power-up in Guitar Duels of the Guitar Hero: On Tour series. In Band Hero on Nintendo DS, the built-in microphone on any Nintendo DS, DSi, or 3DS model can be used to play Vocals and it is pitch-detected just like a Guitar Hero microphone.

Guitar Hero Live Companion App[]

Guitar Hero Live Companion app icon

Released alongside Guitar Hero Live was a free app on iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch, and iPads supporting iOS 8.0 and above) called Guitar Hero Live Companion (or the Guitar Hero Live Companion App) which allowed players to use their iOS device as a microphone to sing along the vocal tracks by syncing the app with the main game on any platform through Wi-Fi connection on the same access point.[1]

This app was updated a few times on November 10, 2015 and December 15, 2015, fixing Wi-Fi connection issues with certain routers.

However, the app was removed from the App Store alongside the main iOS game on June 1, 2018 and the app can no longer be connected to Guitar Hero Live.[2]
