Recording Studio, known as GHJam in Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, is a song editing game mode within the Music Studio/GHStudio of Guitar Hero World Tour and newer Guitar Hero games. In this song editing mode, up to four players can live record a GHTunes song together.
Additionally, before starting a jam recording session, Bass and Drums can also be auto-recorded through a beat machine.

Recording Studio/GHJam or GHMix (2.0)[]
While the Recording Studio (GHJam in newer titles) can help players quickly create custom songs, it's generally not recommended to create custom songs in the Recording Studio or GHJam since it is common for the player to mistime and misplace notes, even slightly off, while live recording an entire song, plus GHMix and GHMix 2.0 has a live recording feature that can deem the Recording Studio/GHJam obsolete.
The difference in live recording between Recording Studio/GHJam and GHMix (2.0) is that up to four players can live record a custom song together in the Recording Studio/GHJMan while only a single player can live record for each instrument. However, a single player can live record for each instrument in the Recording Studio/GHJam as well.
However, that doesn't make the Recording Studio/GHJam completely useless. As stated, Recording Studio/GHJam can help players quickly create custom songs, especially if multiple players do it as a band. Afterward, (one of) the player(s) can adjusted and polish their placed recorded notes in GHMix (2.0) later. And not every player is experienced with advanced song editing tools like GHMix (2.0), which makes the Recording Studio/GHJam an easier optional for new or inexperienced custom song editors.
