The PlayStation 4 is an eighth generation console created by Sony and was launched on November 15, 2013 in North America, November 29, 2013 in Europe, South America and Australia, and on February 22, 2014 in Japan. It is the direct successor to the PlayStation 3 and the competitor to the Wii U, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
The only Guitar Hero video game to be released on PlayStation 4 is Guitar Hero Live, which is forward compatible on PlayStation 5 along with the PlayStation 4 Guitar Hero Live dongle. Rock Band 4 for PlayStation 4 is also compatible on PlayStation 5 along with PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 instrumental controllers. PlayStation 3 Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, however, are not compatible on PlayStation 4.
