Roadie Play is a group of game modes exclusive in the Wii versions of Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero, and Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock that requires Nintendo DS handheld consoles (connected via DS Download Play from the Nintendo DS handheld console(s)) to be "Roadie(s)" to play. Roadies are Nintendo DS users that assist Rockers (Wii players) in gameplay in Roadie Play game modes or in Party Play.
Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero only had Roadie Battle but Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock introduced Roadie Quickplay+ and Roadie Setlist Manager.
Game modes[]
Roadie Battle[]
Roadie Battle is a competitive game mode and a variation of Battle Mode introduced in Guitar Hero 5 that involves Roadies sabotaging the opposing Wii Rocker's equipment while repairing their own Rocker's damaged equipment. The Rocker with the highest score wins the Roadie Battle.[1][2]
Sabotage[]
There are various sabotaging techniques Roadies can do to attack their opponent including:
- Sabotage Amp: Based on Amp Overload battle power-up. The Roadie overloads the opposing Rocker's amplifier by unscrewing their amp and unplugging the cables inside and reinserting them into the wrong sockets, which causes the Rcker's highway to quake which makes notes disappear and re-appear in short bursts. The victim's Roadie then unscrews their amp and rotate six dials from 0 to 11 to end the Amp Overload effect.
- Sabotage Pyro: Based on Pyrotechnics battle power-up. The Roadie overloads the opponent's pyrotechnics system by tapping a lightning icon multiple times to charge up the pyrotechnics and press the fire icon to unleash a flaming and smoking distraction on the opposing Rocker's highway until the victim's Roadie can put out the fire by blowing into the Nintendo DS's microphone.
- Sabotage Soundboard: Based on Hyperspeed. The Roadie messes with the opponent Rocker's soundboard by rotating dials and flipping switches to new targeted value. The victim's highway then stretches and speeds up with notes leaving bluish after images until the victim's Roadie fixes the soundboard's dials and switches back to their normal position.
- Sabotage Speaker: The Roadie sabotages the opponent's speakers, which changes random notes into broken speakers that makes an explosive sound when played. The victim's Roadie then puts moves their speakers back into place to make incoming notes normal again.
- Sabotage Guitar: Based on Lefty Flip battle power-up. The Roadie sabotage's the opposing Wii player's guitar by breaking the locks off its case, then snapping its strings, re-stringing them in reverse and a use a robot arm to swap it out for the opponent. This then flips their highway's lanes (green lane with orange lane and red lane with blue lane). The victim's Roadie then needs to repair guitar strings and re-tune the guitar for the Rocker's highway lanes to flip back to normal.
The Wii victim would need to call their Nintendo DS Roadie to repair their sabotaged equipment.
Roadie Quickplay+[]
Roadie Quickplay+ is a cooperative game mode introduced in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock that assist Wii rockers to complete challenges easier and faster in Quickplay+.
Roadie Setlist Manager[]
Roadie Setlist Manager, also introduced in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, allows players to create a setlist and Roadie Fun Facts can be viewed in Party Play.
