WaveGroup Sound

WaveGroup Sound is a music production company known for its creation of music for numerous video games, especially making covers of existing songs for music video games to reduce costs of song licensing for video games.

WaveGroup and Guitar Hero

WaveGroup Sound was involved in the earlier Guitar Hero titles up to Guitar Hero World Tour until the Guitar Hero series completely used master tracks of the songs for the rest of the games. The main setlist of games excluding Guitar Hero World Tour would primarily be covered by WaveGroup while the bonus tracks of games usually used the master tracks.

They have won several soundtrack and audio awards for their music covers in Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II including:

• 2005 Spike Video Game Awards for best soundtrack in Guitar Hero,
• 2005 Game Developers Choice Awards for best audio for Guitar Hero,
• 2006 AIAS Interactive Achievement Award for Outstanding Achievement in Soundtrack for Guitar Hero,
• 2006 BAFTA Games Awards for best soundtrack in Guitar Hero,
• 2006 Spike Video Game Awards for best soundtrack in Guitar Hero II,
• 2006 Game Developers Choice Awards for best audio in Guitar Hero II,
• as well as 2007 Spike Video Game Awards for best soundtrack in Rock Band.

Starting in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, more master tracks would be seen in the main setlist with some songs covered by WaveGroup Sound and few others by Steve Ouimette and other artists. By Guitar Hero World Tour, all songs in the main setlist would have master tracks but WaveGroup was involved with some of its downloadable content.
